Home/Dumpster Sizes

10, 20 & 40 yard

Which dumpster do you actually need?

Three sizes, three prices, within 20 miles of our service origin: 10 yard lowboy $700 (10 tons included for dirt, concrete, brick, and rock), 20 yard $650 (3 tons included), 40 yard $700 (4 tons included). $85 per ton over on the 20 and 40.

Read this first

10 tons included for heavy materials.

Our 10 yard lowboy is $700 with 10 tons included for dirt, concrete, brick, and rock. It holds up to 10 tons. Choose it for a separate heavy-material load.

Keep the load level with the top rail and within the 10-ton capacity. Tell the office what you are loading so we can confirm placement, access, and material suitability.

The 20 yard includes 3 tons and the 40 yard includes 4, which is plenty for what actually goes in them: drywall, framing lumber, cabinets, furniture, carpet, packaging and general cleanout junk are bulky and light. Past the included tonnage it is $85 per ton off the certified scale ticket, and we hand you the ticket.

Rule of thumb. Dirt, concrete, brick, and rock belong in a 10 yard lowboy with 10 tons included, up to its 10-ton capacity. If it is mixed debris (wood, drywall, general household), the 40 yard is what most projects need — it is the size we run most, priced the same $700 as the 10 but with 4 tons of anything included, not just inert. The 20 yard is the same kind of work scaled down for smaller jobs at $650.

Material guide

What goes in each bin.

Three sizes. The only real question is what your debris is made of and how much room the truck has to work with.

10 yard 12' × 8' × 4' · 3–4 pickup loads 10 tons included

The heavy stuff. Dirt, concrete, brick, and rock, with 10 tons included. Low four-foot walls for easier loading, and a twelve-foot footprint that fits a driveway without blocking the garage.

Load it with: dirt · concrete · brick · rock. Maximum capacity: 10 tons. Keep other materials separate.

Price a 10 yard
20 yard · $650 20' × 8' × 4' · 6–8 pickup loads 3 tons included · $85/ton over

For smaller projects. $650 base. Same scope of work as the 40 yard but sized down for single-room remodels, garage or estate cleanouts and light demo where you know the pile stays small. Low four-foot walls, so debris goes over the side rather than up a ramp.

Load it with: cabinets and countertops · drywall · flooring and carpet · tubs, vanities and fixtures · deck and fence lumber · single-layer roofing · garage and estate cleanout junk · furniture · yard and green waste

Price a 20 yard
40 yard · $700 22' × 8' × 6' · 12–16 pickup loads 4 tons included · $85/ton over

The bin we run most. $700 base. Eight-foot walls, forty cubic yards — the size customers pick most often because it holds the volume a real project actually generates. Needs real room: roughly 60 feet of straight clearance and 23 feet overhead, so check for branches and power lines first.

Load it with: light demolition debris · warehouse and industrial cleanout · commercial construction waste · land-clearing brush and tree limbs · bulk packaging and crating · large-volume framing waste · retail and restaurant fixture strip-out

The heavy-material bin, with 10 tons included.

Ten cubic yards, low walls, and a footprint that fits a standard driveway without blocking the garage. The $700 base price includes 10 tons of dirt, concrete, brick, or rock. Keep the load level with the rail and do not exceed the 10-ton capacity.

20 yard · 20' × 8' × 4'

Smaller projects, same kind of work.

Twice the volume of a 10 yard with the same low four-foot walls, which matters more than people expect — you can still throw material over the side instead of carrying it up a ramp. Same scope of debris as a 40 yard job, sized down for single-room remodels, cleanouts and light demo where the pile is not going to fill a 40. If you are not sure which to pick, take the 40 — it is $50 more and twice the space.

40 yard · 22' × 8' × 6'

The bin we run most.

Forty cubic yards and eight-foot walls — the size customers ask for most because it holds the volume a real project actually generates. Whole-house cleanouts, full re-roofs, major remodels, construction site clearances, warehouse and industrial cleanouts, land clearing. It needs real room: our driver wants roughly 60 feet of straight clearance to set it down and about 23 feet overhead, so check for low branches and power lines before you book.

We run 80 of them. Deep enough that a multi-phase demo or construction job can keep six to ten on rotation for weeks without a delivery gap. See the full fleet →

Junk removal & hauling

Do not want a bin sitting in the driveway for five days?

Sometimes a dumpster is the wrong tool. If the pile is already made and you just want it gone today, we will bring a truck and haul it — no container left behind, no five-day rental, no neighbours asking questions.

This is quoted per load rather than off the booking calculator, because it depends on volume, weight and how much of it our crew has to carry. Call and describe the pile and we will give you a number on the phone.

Sizing questions

“What size do I need for…”

The questions our dispatchers answer on the phone every day. If your project is not here, call and describe it — we place bins in the Inland Empire daily and we will tell you straight if a smaller one will do.

What size dumpster do I need for a bathroom remodel?

A 20 yard is an option for mixed bathroom-demolition debris such as cabinets, drywall, and fixtures. Use a separate 10 yard lowboy only for dirt, concrete, brick, or rock, with 10 tons included and a 10-ton maximum. Describe the materials to the office before booking.

What size dumpster do I need for a kitchen remodel?

A 20 yard is an option for cabinets, flooring, drywall, and other mixed kitchen-remodel debris. If you have a separate load of dirt, concrete, brick, or rock, ask about the 10 yard lowboy, which includes and holds up to 10 tons.

What size dumpster do I need for a roof tear-off?

Tell the office the roofing material, roof area, and number of layers so it can recommend the right bin. The 20 yard includes 3 tons and the 40 yard includes 4 tons. The 10 yard heavy-material offer is for dirt, concrete, brick, and rock, not a blanket allowance for roofing debris.

Can I mix concrete with wood, drywall and general trash in the same bin?

Keep the 10 yard heavy-material load limited to dirt, concrete, brick, and rock, with 10 tons included and a 10-ton maximum. Ask the office for the appropriate mixed-debris bin for wood, drywall, and general trash.

Can I put dirt and concrete in the same load?

The 10 yard heavy-material offer covers dirt, concrete, brick, and rock, with 10 tons included and a maximum capacity of 10 tons. Describe the mix when booking so the office can confirm the receiving facility. Keep wood, drywall, plastic, and trash separate.

How many pickup truck loads fit in a 20 yard dumpster?

About six to eight full-size pickup beds, loaded level. A 10 yard is three to four, and a 40 yard is twelve to sixteen. People almost always underestimate their pile — the 40 costs $50 more than the 20 and gives you twice the space, so guessing high on a big job is almost always cheaper than a second haul.

Is a 10 yard big enough for a garage or estate cleanout?

Usually not. Household cleanout debris is bulky and light — furniture, boxes, shelving, old exercise equipment — so you run out of room long before you run out of weight. Take the 20 yard for a garage or single-room cleanout, or the 40 yard for a whole-house. The included tonnage on either is far more than a cleanout will ever weigh.

What size do I need for landscaping, sod and tree removal?

Use the 10 yard lowboy for dirt and rock, with 10 tons included and a 10-ton maximum. Ask the office about sod, brush, branches, and tree limbs before selecting a mixed-debris or yard-waste bin. Do not assume a full bin of dense material is within the weight limit.

If any of these materials are found in the container at pickup, JD Transport Inc. will not pick up the container until the renter removes them. If they are found at the disposal site, the renter is liable for any extra cost JD Transport Inc. incurs to dispose of them.
