Rental Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026. These terms apply to roll-off container rentals from J D Transport, Inc. They are summarized in plain language here; the signed rental agreement or purchase order governs if the two ever conflict.

What the price includes

Base rates are $700 for a 10 yard lowboy, $650 for a 20 yard and $700 for a 40 yard. Each covers delivery, pickup, disposal at the receiving facility and five rental days, with the first 20 driving miles from our service origin included. Three things can add to it, all listed below: weight above the included tonnage on the 20 and 40 yard, driving miles beyond the first 20, and rental days beyond the fifth. Nothing else is added.

  • 10 yard lowboy container: $700 base price with 10 tons included for heavy materials: dirt, concrete, brick, and rock. Maximum capacity is 10 tons. Keep the load level with the top rail and within that capacity. Contact the office before loading other materials or arranging a load that may exceed the limit. Additional mileage, rental days, and applicable payment fees are separate.
  • 20 yard container: $650 base, includes 3 tons of material. Weight above 3 tons is billed at $85.00 per ton, prorated, against the certified scale ticket from the receiving facility.
  • 40 yard container: $700 base, includes 4 tons of material. Weight above 4 tons is billed at $85.00 per ton, prorated, against the certified scale ticket from the receiving facility.
  • Mileage: $10.00 per driving mile beyond the first 20, measured one way from our yard.
  • Extra days: $20.00 per day after day five.

Quoted prices exclude applicable taxes and any municipal permit or franchise fees. We will identify those before delivery rather than adding them to an invoice afterwards.

Overweight and scale tickets

Overweight charges on the 20 and 40 yard sizes are supported by the certified scale ticket from the facility that received your load. We provide that ticket. If you believe a weight is wrong, tell us within 10 days of the invoice and we will pull the ticket and review it with you.

Loading the container

  • Load level with the top rail. We cannot legally transport a container loaded above the rail, and a container that has to be re-leveled on site may incur a return trip charge.
  • Distribute weight evenly across the floor rather than piling it at one end.
  • Nothing may protrude past the sides or the rear door.
  • Keep the door area clear so it can be latched and sealed.

Prohibited materials

The following may not be placed in any container. Materials on this list are regulated, and disposing of them in a roll-off exposes both of us to significant penalties.

  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing material
  • Paint, solvents, adhesives, lacquers and other liquid wastes
  • Oil, fuel, antifreeze and other automotive fluids
  • Batteries of any type
  • Tires
  • Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and any other appliance containing refrigerant
  • Fluorescent tubes, ballasts and electronic waste
  • Pesticides, herbicides and pool chemicals
  • Propane tanks, compressed gas cylinders and aerosols
  • Medical or biohazardous waste
  • Contaminated soil
  • Railroad ties and pressure-treated timber, unless agreed in advance

If prohibited material is found in a container, you are responsible for the cost of proper handling and disposal, plus any fee the receiving facility charges us for a rejected or contaminated load. Call us before the fact and we will tell you where the material actually needs to go — that conversation costs nothing.

Delivery site and access

You are responsible for providing safe, legal and unobstructed access to the placement location, and for confirming that the surface can bear a loaded truck and container.

  • Have the placement area clear of vehicles, low branches and overhead wires before the scheduled window.
  • Containers placed on driveways, pavers, decorative concrete or asphalt may leave marks or cause cracking. We will lay boards on request, but placement on an improved surface is at your risk.
  • You are responsible for obtaining any street, encroachment or right-of-way permit your city requires, unless we have agreed in writing to obtain it.
  • If our driver arrives within the scheduled window and cannot place or retrieve the container because the site is blocked, a dry run charge applies.

Municipal franchise restrictions

Some cities in the region award an exclusive solid waste franchise that restricts which hauler may place a roll-off container within city limits. Tell us the project city when you call. If we cannot lawfully serve it we will say so and, where we can, refer you to a hauler who can.

Scheduling, cancellation and swaps

  • Delivery and pickup are scheduled in windows, not at exact times. Same-day service is often available; we confirm it rather than promise it.
  • Cancel or reschedule before the truck is dispatched and there is no charge.
  • A swap — removing a full container and setting an empty one — is billed as a new rental.
  • Pickup is not automatic on day five. Call, text or email when the container is ready and we will schedule it.

Care of the container while it is with you

The container remains our property. While it is on your site you are responsible for it, and for any loss or damage from fire, burning of material, graffiti, vandalism, theft or misuse. Do not move, modify, paint or overload the container, and do not allow anyone else to use it.

Payment

Residential and one-off rentals are payable at or before delivery. Established commercial accounts may be invoiced on approved terms. Overdue balances may accrue a service charge at the maximum rate allowed by California law, and we may withhold further deliveries while an account is past due.

Insurance and liability

We carry commercial general liability, commercial auto and workers' compensation coverage, and will provide a certificate of insurance naming your entity on request. See our compliance and insurance page for details of what we carry and the documents we can send.

Our liability arising out of a rental is limited to the charges paid for that rental. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost profits or project delay costs. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under California law.

Diversion reporting

Where a project requires construction and demolition diversion documentation, tell us before the first delivery so we can route loads to the right facility and format the reporting to your jurisdiction's requirements. See the C&D waste diversion section. Reporting supplied after the fact cannot always recover a diversion rate that was lost at the point of disposal.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Venue for any dispute lies in Riverside County, California. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect.
